Cameroon: Three traditional authorities brutally killed in Fontem

Three traditional authorities brutally killed in Fontem, southwest region, and another kidnapped in Boyo, in the northwest region by suspected secessionists.

This horrible scene saddens the entire population and the government of the Republic. Faced with this tragic death of Chiefs Fuazisong, Forncheleh, and Forlesueh; of the kidnapping of Fon Clement Njî II, the inhabitants of their respective localities are speechless.

The presumed secessionists would reproach these traditional leaders for “their allegiance to the provider of Yaoundé”. For the moment, this is only a hypothesis pending the results of an investigation opened by the competent authorities.

A witness said on condition of anonymity that they were “four traditional leaders kidnapped on February 13, 2021, in the Southwest region by armed men. The latter is suspected of being secessionist fighters active in the arrondissement of Fontem, Lebialem department, South-West region “. “Three of them were later found dead,” he continued.

According to the same source, Fon Clement Njî II, traditional chief of Njinikom in the Boyo department, was kidnapped on Sunday, February 14, Valentine’s Day, while returning from the Church. The latter is still untraceable and his abduction has not been claimed.

Like teachers, women, and learners, traditional chiefs also become recurring targets of secessionists.
