The government has allocated over 700 million kwacha for school grants for the first term of 2025, ensuring that funds have reached all school accounts today.
Kunda Mando, Assistant Director and Head of Communication at the Ministry of Education, confirmed that the grants were signed off last week and distributed promptly.
Of the total amount, over 300 million kwacha has been designated for secondary schools, while 200 million kwacha will support primary schools. Additionally, 200 million kwacha is allocated to Colleges of Education and District Education Boards.
Mando stressed that pupils in government schools should not be required to pay any fees, as the government has fully committed to covering the cost of education.
