The Cameroon government puts an end to the careers of 915 civil servants. This is the second wave of layoffs, which comes as part of the consolidation operation launched a few years ago.
In an information note, the Minister of Public Service and Administrative Reform Joseph Le indicates that in the context of the contentious phase of the Operation of Physical Counting of State Personnel (COPPE), the Government has just issued a series of decrees relating, to the one hand, to the automatic dismissal of 56 civil servants and the dismissal of 859 State agents subject to the labour code.
These new sanctions, which bring to 1,408 the number of public officials already removed from the workforce, within the framework of Operation COPPE, are taken in accordance with the provisions of Decree No. 94/199 of October 7, 1994, amended and supplemented by Decree No. ° 2000/287 of October 12, 2000, and Decree No. 78/484 of November 9, 1978, respectively on the General Statute of the Public Service and the Labor Code, inform the member of the government.
According to Joseph Le, notwithstanding numerous press releases and formal notices from the Minister of Finance and the Minister of the Public Service and Administrative Reform, addressed to the respondents, only 601 staff out of 8,766 concerned, were designed to comply with the summonses. of the Permanent Council of Discipline of the Public Service. At the end of their hearing, 177 defendants were rehabilitated through simple paybacks or accompanied by warnings, reprimands, lowering of echelons, etc.
.Ill stresses that this important operation, which is in line with the High Directives of the President of the Republic, His Excellency PAUL BIVA, implemented under the authority of the Prime Minister, Head of Government, relating to the fight against chronic absenteeism public officials. However, the defendants who consider themselves unfairly sanctioned may appeal, an appeal, to the Superior Council of Public Petition. This is not the first time that Minfopra has reviewed the state payroll file in this way.
