Cameroon/Education: The inter-union announces a series of strikes

Cameroon/Education: The inter-union announces a series of strikes and denounces unkept commitments of the Government.

Meeting on October 1, 2022, the teachers’ unions note with bitterness the silence of the government in the face of their various demands. In accordance with the press release made public on September 27, the lords of the chalk are back on the attack. A Series of strikes will therefore be observed, throughout the territory from October 17, 2022.

A total walkout, for 3 consecutive days, between October 17 and 19. However, the members of the intersyndicale plan to cease all activity for the month of November, from 21 to 25. And in December, the administrative walkout will concern all work and documents related to school results.

During the days of total strike, kindergarten and primary school teachers and other educational staff are called upon to stay at home and parents to keep their children at home.

The members of the various unions do not intend to stop there. Actions will be announced later, for the other quarters, pending observation of a possible improvement, or other government action. This information is recorded in a striking slogan, signed jointly by representatives of several education unions including SNAES, FECASE, SYNPAC, and SYNTESPRIC, among others.
