Muzarabani – The Environmental Management Agency (EMA) marked a significant milestone with the official opening of its new office in Muzarabani, a move aimed at enhancing the sustainable management of natural resources in the region.

Environment, Climate, and Wildlife Minister Dr Sithembiso Nyoni led the inauguration ceremony, announcing that this latest facility is the sixth office established since 2019 as part of a broader initiative to extend EMA’s presence to every district across the country. The strategic expansion is expected to streamline access to vital information and records for miners, farmers, and the local community, thereby supporting more informed and sustainable resource management.

“The new office is designed to offer convenience and improve service delivery for our community members,” Minister Nyoni said. “Construction, which commenced towards the end of 2023, has not only provided a conducive working environment for our staff but also created valuable employment opportunities for local residents.”

In line with environmental best practices, the office is powered by solar energy to minimize its carbon footprint. It is also fully equipped with essential amenities, including reliable water supply and internet connectivity, ensuring both operational efficiency and sustainability.

Mashonaland Central Provincial Affairs and Devolution Minister Christopher Magomo also extended his congratulations to the Ministry of Environment, Climate, and Wildlife, highlighting the rich natural endowments of the province. “Our province boasts indigenous forests, abundant wildlife, and a wealth of minerals, all of which significantly contribute to the national GDP,” Magomo remarked.

With its new facility in Muzarabani, EMA is poised to further its mission of promoting environmental conservation and sustainable development across the country, reinforcing the critical link between natural resource management and local economic growth.
