There is a palpable fear of further strikes as ASUU Holds NEC Meeting in Calabar

There is a palpable fear of further strikes as ASUU Holds NEC Meeting in Calabar. In the event that the government does not release their withheld March to September salaries and the remaining portions of their October salaries, the NEC meeting that started yesterday will discuss the “No Pay, No Work” policy.

The federal government and ASUU have been at odds over broken promises and a continuing refusal to pay the members’ eight-month salaries that were withheld during the union’s most recent protracted industrial action.

The NEC, the union’s top decision-making body, has confirmed that ASUU may make another round of indefinite strike announcements at the meeting or later in the month.
