Nigeria: FG Seeks Stakeholders’ Support To End Rushing Children Through Education

Nigeria: FG Seeks Stakeholders’ Support To End Rushing Children Through Education. The Nigerian Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu has solicited the cooperation of stakeholders to tackle the negative impact of rushing children through education.

During the stakeholders’ town hall meeting for the Hurried Child Project, held in honor of the World Day for the prevention of child abuse in Abuja, Adamu made the request through a representative named Adekola Ben. According to Daily trust.

The minister linked the occurrence to the National Policy on Education’s lax regulatory enforcement, the country’s 6-3-3-4 system’s misunderstanding, and a lack of public awareness of the practice’s detrimental effects on children and society.

In view of the aforementioned, he urged quality assurance organizations and professionals to take action against this threat.

Dr. Olatunde Adekola, the Senior Education Specialist at the World Bank Country Office in Abuja, recommended that parents avoid rushing their children into becoming miniature adults in their remarks.

The “hurried kid syndrome,” as he defined it, is “a process of shifting their children from infancy to maturity by missing the phase of natural growth,” and it is injurious to the child.

Hanatu Enwemadu Esq., the CEO of A Mother’s Love Initiative, the non-governmental organization that put the event together, said in her remarks that the program was designed to educate parents and school administrators about the risks that rushing a kid brings to the future of the nation.
