Christians of the Kumbo Diocese in the restive North West region of Cameroon have staged a peaceful protest calling for an end to atrocities perpetrated in the area by armed separatists.
Led by their Bishop, Mgr George Nkuo, both the young and the old stormed the streets of Kumbo carrying peace plants at about 6:30am this Tuesday October 20, clamouring for peace and an effective back to school in the locality.
During their march which had as end point the Kumbo Cathedral, they recited the Rosary and called for God’s divine intervention for peace to return to Kumbo.
When they got to the Cathedral, the Bishop blessed them and the celebration of a holy mass followed suit.
Speaking after celebrating the mass, Mgr Georges Nkuo called on the different parties involved in the ongoing crisis in the North West and South West regions to drop their arms and engage in peace negotiations.
Kumbo is one of the areas in the North West region of Cameroon badly affected by the ongoing Anglophone crisis characterised by violence, killings, abductions, gun battles between soldiers and separatists fighting for the independence of a state they call Ambazonia.
