The Italian Government Fully funded Scholarships 2023-2024. The Italian government offers scholarships to foreign students and Italian citizens residing abroad. The objective of this program is to strengthen international cooperation in the scientific, technological, cultural and artistic fields and to promote the Italian language and culture.

Italian government scholarships are offered at the bachelor’s, masters and doctoral levels. Scholarships can also be awarded for research or linguistic stays in a public or legally recognized Italian establishment in Italy.

In Italy, you’ll find a host of top-notch universities offering  English -taught degrees. Three Italian universities are ranked among the top 200 universities in the world: the University of Bologna, the Sapienza University of Rome and the Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa. Three others rank among the top 300. In total, the country has about  90 universities.

BENEFITS OF ITALIAN GOVERNMENT SCHOLARSHIPS

The winner of an Italian government scholarship will receive a monthly allowance of 900 euros paid quarterly to the personal current account (900 euros x 3 months = 2,700 euros). Scholarship holders will be exempt from payment of registration and tuition fees. The exemption is not applied for linguistic and cultural stays.

Fellows will be covered by health and medical insurance. The insurance is valid exclusively for the duration of the grant. Pre-existing conditions and dental care are excluded from insurance coverage. The scholarship is granted for a period of 3 (three), 6 (six) or 9 (nine) months depending on the level of study.

Eligibility for the Italian Government Fully funded Scholarships 2023-2024

Bachelor’s degree:  Italian government scholarships at the bachelor’s level are for higher education courses in arts, music and dance only.

Master:  Admission to the first year of a master’s degree in Italy requires obtaining a bachelor’s degree. Admission to the second year is granted to applicants who can demonstrate that they have made satisfactory progress in their first year examinations. Scholarships for master’s courses are awarded for a study period of 6 (six) or 9 (nine) months.

Doctorate:  To be admitted to a doctorate in Italy, candidates must meet the admission requirements and academic qualifications established by the university; they must also provide the doctoral admission letter from the Italian university concerned. Scholarships for a doctoral program are awarded for a study period of 6 (six) or 9 (nine) months.

A language stay:  The Italian government scholarships for Italian language and culture courses are granted for a period of 3 (three) months exclusively to students taking an Italian language course at an Italian university or cultural institute. Candidates must provide a certificate attesting to their command of the Italian language. The minimum level required is A2.

Research:  Candidates must submit a research project, with the name and contact details (e-mail address) of their research supervisor, and provide the invitation/acceptance letter from the host university/institute. Grants for research under academic supervision are granted for a study period of 6 (six) or 9 (nine) months.

The age of applicants for the Italian government scholarship programs at bachelor’s, master’s and language stay levels must not exceed  28 years and 364 days at the deadline of this call. The age of PhD candidates should not exceed  30 years and 364 days. For the research program, the candidate must be under  41 years old.

The Italian Government Fully funded Scholarships 2023-2024 – HOW TO APPLY?

Requests must be sent exclusively through the  STUDY IN ITALY portal. Candidates must be in possession of a valid passport or identity card. It is not necessary to apply separately to a university. The Italian Government Scholarship Program manages the placement of selected students. Applicants must also be in possession of the following by the call deadline:

  • Academic qualifications: Diploma and transcripts.
  • Language skills: Certification of Italian language proficiency level B2, if they intend to study a program taught in Italian. Certification of English language proficiency level B2, if they intend to study a program taught in English.

Applications must be submitted no later than  June 9, 2022, at 2 p.m. CET. Applications submitted after the deadline will be rejected.
