The European Commission launches a campaign to send computers and mobile phones to Ukrainian schools

The European Commission launches a campaign to send computers and mobile phones to Ukrainian schools. This campaign was launched this Thursday as a joint initiative with the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine .

“The objective is to collect laptops, smartphones and tablets in response to the fundamental needs of schools, hospitals and public administrations in the regions most affected by the war in Ukraine”, highlighted the statement from the Community Executive, which reported that it will facilitate the collection.

The calculation of Brussels is that some 70,000 teachers need computers to continue their teaching work and some 5,000 schools affected by the war require digital devices to guarantee the learning of some 200,000 Ukrainian students. But digital equipment is also needed in the health sector and administration.

Donations can be both new and used working laptops, smartphones or tablets found in homes or offices. Companies can make donations through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism.
